Erm, so… yeah.
So… I know this isn’t my normal blog, but that is gone away, at least for now. My server took some damage in the move back to Regina, I guess, and now it won’t recognize the disk. It’s an older machine (c. 1998, I think?), so it’s been up for replacement for a long time, but it couldn’t have come at a worse time.
(In short: we’re broke.)
So this is where I’m going to be collecting my thoughts for the next little bit. I love tumblr a lot; I think it’s a great platform, a paragon of web2ptOh technology, but I feel just a little sad that I’m not writing on software I wrote myself when I’m more than capable of customizing my experience.
One interesting thing worth noting is that we didn’t lose any email. I’ve had yurkowski.net on Google Apps for a while, and the cloud saved us. That’s a major reason for any corporation to consider it, I’d think. You never know when a pox will settle upon your servers.
I guess this is mostly about where I’m at now. I’ve left zu; it was a tough decision, but one that I think is for the best at this point. I’m now working for a company in Regina by the name of Look Matters. We’re both glad to be back in town a ton, and we’re happy to be living in such a nice and vibrant neighbourhood as Cathedral.
So… yeah. In summary: stupid server; thanks, Google!
